Distilled way back in November 1968, this extraordinary single malt has spent 54 years slowly maturing in Bowmore’s famed No.1 Vaults. That’s five decades of quiet transformation, with the whisky resting in a 2nd Fill European Oak Sherry Butt and a 3rd Fill American Oak Hogshead. After more than half a lifetime, the two parts – 61.8% European oak, 38.2% American oak – were united for 15 months in a nod to the Golden Ratio, a fitting detail for a release that blends science, art, and instinct in equal measure.
